Cryptoids August 2026 Production Update!
14 days ago – Tue, Aug 04, 2026 at 09:06:16 AM

Hey Cryptoids backers!

We've got a production update for you, and it's all about quality! The back-and-forth we've been having with our factory in China to make sure these figures come out exactly the way they should has been producting and dare we say, FUN! Our team across the sea is incredible and has played a very important role in identifying any and all possible ways to improve the design and quality of Cryptoids Series One!

Where things stand

Over the past few weeks, we've gone through several rounds of revisions with the factory. Rather than rushing early samples into full production, we've been sending back detailed notes after every test print, flagging anything from soft details on the sculpts to fit issues on the articulation points, and waiting for corrected samples before signing off.

It's added some time to the process, but the goal has always been the same: we don't want to ship figures that feel like a downgrade from what we promised you in the campaign. A few of you specifically called out sculpt sharpness and joint durability in your comments, and that feedback directly shaped this round of revisions.

What's improved in this round

  • Sharper sculpt detail — surface texturing and smaller design elements are coming through much more clearly than in the first-round samples.
  • Tighter articulation — joints have been reworked for a better balance of poseability and stability, so the figures hold poses without feeling loose over time.

What's next

We're reviewing the latest batch of samples now and have sent over another round of notes. Once we're fully satisfied with quality, we'll move into approving for mass production and will share that milestone with you immediately.

We know waiting on updates like this isn't the most exciting part of backing a project, but we'd rather take the extra time now than cut corners and disappoint you later. Thanks for sticking with us and we will have more updates (and photos) soon.

As always, drop your questions in the comments and we'll do our best to answer them in the next update.

Cryptoids Production Update: Engineering & Sculpt Refinements

Hey Cryptoids backers!

We know you've been eager for a look behind the curtain, so this update is all about the engineering work happening on the production side. Over the past few weeks, our team has been working closely with our production partners to push the sculpts further, refining mobility, articulation, and overall design fidelity so that every figure feels as good in your hands as it looks on the shelf.

Dialing In Full Mobility & Articulation

Getting a figure to look dynamic in a package photo is one thing. Getting it to actually hold a pose, move naturally through a full range of motion is a different challenge. That's where most of our engineering time has gone this cycle.

We've been going sculpt by sculpt with the factory and production team, leaning on their decades of experience to make modifications based on recommendations.

Shared Joint Architecture: Aliens x Batboy

One of the bigger engineering wins this update is on the Alien sculpts. Our team reworked the joint architecture so the Alien joints can now be shared with Batboy. This isn't just a cost-efficiency move (though it is that too), standardizing joint components across figures means tighter tolerances, more consistent articulation, and fewer points of failure across the line. When a joint design is proven across multiple figures, it gets stronger with every iteration.

Spacing Fixes: Bigfoot & Yeti

Our big guys needed some extra attention. We identified spacing issues on the biceps, legs, and crotch area of both Bigfoot and Yeti that were affecting the look of the figure, plus fit and range of motion. The production team has since made corrections to those spacing tolerances, which should translate to smoother articulation and better overall proportions once these updates are reflected in the next round of prototypes.

What's Next

We'll continue working through the remaining sculpts with the same level of scrutiny, and we'll share updated prototype photos as soon as these engineering changes are reflected in physical samples. Thanks for your patience and support as we get these details right, we want every figure in this line to hold up to the kind of play (and display) you all clearly have planned for them.

More updates coming soon. As always, thank you for backing Cryptoids!

Adjusted size of beads on Yeti up just a bit, to ensure no issues in molds.

Smoothed out inner edges of joints where applicable, and made joint wheel more flush to body pieces.

Improved gap on Biceps.

Before - We felt the crotch piece was a little to thin, showing too much of the barbell joint.

After, increased size of crotch.

Modified internals so that Aliens and Bat Boy could share joints.

Cryptoids Production Update 2!
2 months ago – Thu, Jun 11, 2026 at 10:48:57 AM

Hey Cryptoids Backers!

We've got some exciting news to share from the production front, and we couldn't wait to fill you in.

Engineering Is Going GREAT!

Engineering work at the factory is moving along wonderfully! Our team is in constant communication with the team there, talking through details, refining specs, and dialing everything in as we get ready for the next big milestone: molds! This is one of the most critical stages of production, and we're making sure everything is absolutely right before we pull the trigger.

Updated Prototypes Incoming

Here's the part we're REALLY excited about: we expect to have updated prototypes to show off within the next few months! Once enginering modifications are finished, the factory will create a fresh round pf printed prototypes that we will fully inspect for accuracy before moving forward.

We can't wait to get these in front of you, seeing Cryptoids come to life has been a thrill for us, and we know you're going to love what's coming. These prototypes will be hand painted and used as paint masters for the factory to perfectly replicate. HOW EXCITING IS THIS?!

BackerKit Update: Order Amendments & Timing

A quick note for everyone in BackerKit:

  • Order amendments: We're actively amending orders as requested, so if you've reached out about a change due to something not being correct in your survey, we're on it!
  • BackerKit is still open: We've still got some time before we close things up, so if you need to make adjustments, update your address, or add anything to your pledge, hold tight, you haven't missed your window. We'll give you plenty of warning before we lock things down.

Thank You!

As always, thank you for your patience and support. Every step gets us closer to putting Cryptoids in your hands, and we're so glad to have you along for the ride.

More updates soon so stay tuned!

Production Update #1!
3 months ago – Mon, May 11, 2026 at 07:17:05 PM

Hello Cryptoids Collectors!

Thanks for your support and patiance as we've offically launched our post-campaign phase with BakerKit! Over half of you have already sumitted your surveys, so thank you very much for that! We still have time, so no worried if you haven't gotten to yours set. We will be sending out periodic reminders before the due date.

Also note, if you chose the Pay Over Time option, you will not receive your BackerKit survey until that third payment is processed!

Watching this campaign close was one of those moments we'll never forget, and we've spent the past few weeks letting it sink in while hitting the ground running behind the scenes. Today we want to share where things stand.

We've brought on our Production Manager.

This was the first big step after the campaign wrapped. We're now working closely with our production manager, who is coordinating everything between our team and the factory. Having a dedicated person in this role means nothing falls through the cracks as they're the point of contact who speaks the language of manufacturing, timelines, and tolerances, so we can stay focused on making sure the product is exactly what we promised you.

Engineering has officially kicked off.

We've begun the first round of coordination with our factory on the engineering side. This means going through our designs in detail, identifying what needs to be adapted for tooling, and establishing the technical specs that will guide the production process. It's not the flashiest phase,a lot of it is emails, files, and spreadsheets, but it's the foundation everything else is built on. Get this right, and the rest of the process moves cleanly.

What to expect next.

Over the coming weeks we'll be deep in engineering reviews and early factory feedback. We'll share updates as we hit real milestones as we'd rather give you meaningful news than filler content. Our goal is to keep you genuinely informed throughout this process. In the coming months, we will receive our first factory prototypes and will be sharing updates as soon as we can!

We're incredibly grateful for your support and trust. This is really happening.

More soon!
